Martin Lambie

Director

BArch(Hons) DipArch RIBA RIAS ARB SEDA

With a proven record of running projects ranging from home renovations to multi-million-pound public buildings, Martin has two decades of experience at award-winning practices, on a broad range of cultural, community, university, education, residential and commercial projects.

Martin is currently leading our North Sutherland Health and Social Care Hub project in Tongue; a 15-bed care home with GP surgery and community nurse base to be operated by NHS Highland. He recently oversaw the £4m second phase of Galeri arts centre in Caernarfon, which won an RIBA Welsh Architecture Award, and Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries, a major extension to the world’s first Carnegie Library and winner of the RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award.

He takes the lead on environmental sustainability within the practice, bringing this to the forefront of our agenda. He is a Certified Passivhaus Designer, has worked on many BREEAM-assessed projects and is a member of the Scottish Ecological Design Association (SEDA). In his work with social-enterprise Arkitrek in Malaysia, he led teams of local and international volunteers on innovative community-build projects and witnessed first-hand the effects of habitat loss and climate change.

Martin frequently talks about the work and organisation of the practice with diverse audiences and is an occasional tutor at the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA) at the University of Edinburgh.
